CRecTech & Pertamina NRE sign MoU to launch biomethanol pilot in Indonesia

We had the privilege of being in Jakarta on 2 April 2026 for the signing ceremony between CRecTech and Pertamina New & Renewable Energy for the biomethanol pilot in Indonesia — a meaningful milestone for one of our portfolio companies and an exciting step forward for climate innovation in the region.

What makes this project so meaningful is its local impact. Indonesia, as the world’s largest palm oil producer, faces a huge challenge with palm oil mill effluent (POME)—an organic by-product that, if untreated, releases methane, a greenhouse gas far more potent than CO₂. By turning biogas from excess POME into biomethanol, this pilot transforms a waste problem into a valuable low-carbon fuel solution. It’s a smart way to tackle emissions while advancing Indonesia’s broader decarbonization and circular economy goals.

Seeing this partnership come together in person was especially rewarding. It reflects the dedication of the CRecTech team and the strong collaboration across all stakeholders working toward practical, scalable climate solutions.

A special shoutout to Enterprise Singapore, Breakthrough Energy, and Black & Veatch for your relentless support and commitment as valued partners as we journey alongside CRecTech in bringing this vision closer to commercial reality.

Congratulations to the CRecTech and Pertamina NRE teams on this important milestone. In Group Holdings is proud to support the journey and look forward to the next phase of growth and commercial deployment.
