Beyond the Launch: Investing in the Future of Space

Some of the most interesting opportunities in the space economy may not be in launching satellites, but in the technologies that keep them operating in orbit.

That’s one of the reasons we were drawn to Aliena, a Singapore-based spacetech company developing advanced electric propulsion systems, and why In Group recently led its US$5.5 million Series A1 funding round.

We see this as investing in the “𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘀” of the space economy.

As more satellites are deployed into orbit, propulsion is becoming increasingly important. Satellites need more than a successful launch — they need to maintain their orbits, manoeuvre, avoid collisions and extend their operational lifespans.

That’s what attracted us to Aliena. Rather than betting on the success of any single satellite operator, we’re backing a company providing mission-critical technology that can serve the broader industry.

Beyond its technological capabilities and strong barriers to entry, we were equally impressed by co-founders Mark Lim Jian Wei and George-Cristian Potrivitu, whose technical expertise, perseverance and ambition have been instrumental in bringing Singapore-developed space technology to the global market.

We’re excited to support Aliena’s next phase of growth, including their expansion into Europe, and look forward to seeing a homegrown company make its mark on the global space industry.
